RAMADAN
Although it is a month of fasting and reflection for the Islamic world, the daily Iftar (breaking of fast)
at sunset is a celebration, with bigger hotels often putting on lavish spreads with entertainment for
all. Holiday-makers during this time will benefit from Ramadan discounts on offer by the hotels and
throughout the shopping malls.
Important Info: Non-Muslims are not expected to fast during Ramadan; however, they should respect the
holy month and refrain from eating and drinking in public. During the day hotels will open at least one
restaurant but alcohol will not be served until after sunset, this can also affect some inclusions on selected
tours e.g., Sundowner Dune Dinner Safari. Ramadan dates are dependent on the sighting of the new
moon, actual dates are not confirmed until closer to the time.
